Cool Finding a way to incorporate this idea into a tattoo I want?

Well, I'm a horse addict. My plan is to eventually get a tattoo on my shoulder of one. I don't really want a full body shot (with the exception of one, which I put in the link at the bottom), just the head/neck. I want it mostly black, since I find color tattoos over time really tend to fade and change color, especially when you can't touch it up as frequently as you probably should.

However, I want to incorporate a teal ribbon somehow. For those who don't know, teal is the color ribbon that supports survivors of sexual abuse. I'm thinking somehow in the mane, but I don't want it to look weird. The only thing I could really think of would be like the kind of braided ribbon horses have in the gaited horse classes, but I haven't seen one that I really liked.

Here are some examples of the kind of horse I'm going for: Tats I Dig - Imgur

Ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

I was not familiar with the teal ribbon, can it be shaped like a breast cancer ribbon? Could you put the ribbon on the horse's shoulder like a brand?

I'd put it around the neck like a show ribbon. It might be a nice "ending" to the head and neck.

Find a good tattoo artist and they will come up with a bunch of ideas and drawings of what you want. It's part of their job to put it together for you and make it work!

in the full body horse pic what about it being braided into or wrapped around the tail?

You could put it on the tail if u r doing a full body horse. I'm sure anyone that knows what they r doing could fade the ribbon in so it is not to over powering.u could also put it some how around its neck.

I like the first one you pictured, with a teal ribbon in the tail it would look more subtle:)

Ah, tattoos. My favorite <3

I think that if you got a solid black tattoo with just that bit of teal, it would look super classy. I will warn, the more complex the pattern the more room there is for error on the artist's part. Just be cautious!

Where are you looking to get the tattoo? How large? Those will all play a factor in where a ribbon will look best. For something smaller, around the neck would probably be best. If you are planning on getting something bigger, in the mane may be more appropriate.

I have a tribal style horse on my shoulder blade. I mean its always very very nice to have an idea of what you like and don't like before going to a tattoo artist so you can show what you want. Cause them just drawing up a design at random can take a while before you find one that you like.

I personally drew up both of mine (I'm getting another one in a week.) and then discussed with my artist and had them tweak and come up with their own design. Then it was a discussing what I liked and didn't like until it was best.

Want to know the story? From The Start? It is a work in progress.
The $25 horse I didn't want.
