I think the concept is a fun idea, but honestly, I do believe you should ask the person you choose first.

I don't like my photos used for anything other than to just be posted for others here to enjoy (I have yet to get a watermark for them), so I do not/would not want anyone to edit them, especially without my permission.

The first person who's horse pops into my mind as being named Cricket is Reining_Girl.

I think that is all fine and dandy so long as you get permission before just picking out horses. If you see one you like, you might PM the owner and ask permission before just taking liberties.
