Unhappy Disheartened Rant....

I really am starting to think I walk around with a sign that says 'screw me!" or something...

Every time I turn around and try to deal with someone regarding horses...I'm the one screwed...Not that I'm the kind of person to screw others....but seriously...sick of being let down and just...back stabbed...flipflopped...and many many other words that are probably not appropriate for this site...

I had a deal set up to get free board in exchange for lessons, board being pasture and 'use' of a barn, but not actual stalling. I would have to do all the work as well. Cleaning up poop, feeding, watering, ect...

Then....about 3 days later, I get slapped with a long list of silly rules (some were normal rules, granted, but out of 14, maybe 5 of them were usual barn rules) However...I stuck to the rules...

Now, I give my first lesson...and all of a sudden...they decide they don't want lessons...And....they want money instead...

Ok, that's fine...Except that they want me to pay twice as much as the other person who has a horse out there just because I need to use the barn....If I only lived right down the street like that person does, or if I never rode my horse....I wouldn't need the barn....but I do have saddles, grooming supplies, feed, and the usual things like that which I can't just haul around in my crappy Camry...-sighs-

I'm just so beaten down...So tired and frustrated of being treated like second hand filth....

What makes me that my horse has only been there for a week TODAY (friday)

Ok...if they decided a month later....then that's a month later...but ONE WEEK after signing the contract just...-sighs-

I'm feeling very disheartened, and while I have now worked it out with the people I'm boarding with (just some back yard boarders who don't know anything about horses, thus, why they were getting lessons) i'm just afraid that something ELSE is going to pop up in another week....-sighs-

I am just frustrated to the point of tears...

Get everything you can in writing hun... Seriously... If they have no idea what they are doing as far as boarding, I would hate for something to come up where you end up in a legal battle with them!

We HAD it in writing x.x 3 pages of contract!!!

And now I'm waiting for a 'new' contract with how much I have to pay them -sighs-

Luckily...I talked them down, so I'm not paying an ungodly amount for pasture board.

Just curious, did the contract state they could change it whenever they wanted to? Did they have full rights to change it at any time for any reason, or was it mutual changes?
I would think if it didn't state they or you could change the contract, then I don't see how they can.

You know, I was wondering the same thing. One would think it wouldn't be able to be changed willy nilly because that would mean they could change it whenever they wanted which really would give you NO security really.

Good point, Wyominggrandma! I agree- if the first contract didn't state they could change it when they wanted to, the first contract should still be effective. I'd step back and think about this. This sounds very familiar to a landlord dispute we had a few months back. We fixed up a house that had been left empty for 2 years with our own money in leu of the money being paid back to us in the form of free rent for "x" amount of months. Yeah. That didn't happen. We threatened to take them to court, and I lied (just a small lie) saying I had recordings of the phone conversations. They knew they'd lose in court if I really did have recordings (which I didn't) and cut us a check for the entire amount. Lesson learned- get it in writing.

Sadly....yes...they wrote in a loop-hole that I didn't catch somehow... -sighs-

So I basically let myself get screwed AGAIN...I mean...if it was the same thing, I could say I'm learning, but every time I turn around it's a different kind of mess up!

-hangs head-

They are 'amending' the contract, and this time, my mother will be looking it over for me since she has LOTS of experience with contracts and legal matters....

I know I'm only 23....but seriously...I'm kind of tired of being walked all over....I have never been as disrespected as I have been these past few years...even when I was in high school I had less responsibility and FAR more respect....I just don't get it....
