Looking for Info on Cool Misting Systems

Anyone have any feedback on using Cool-Mist systems in their barn and/or covered arenas? Trying to figure out which way is the best to go, either misting systems from above that operate like fly spray systems on the port-a-cool method. Just wondering if anyone had any feedback either way.

You don't actually want to mist the horse.

If you are going to aim for cooling your horse via evaporation the key is getting the skin wet then moving the air over it. So you want more of a sprinkler/soaker set up with fans.

When you use a fine spray it creates more of a humid enviroment

Im leaning more towards the port-a-cool fans bc I'm looking to make the environment more tolerable for the workers, students and spectators in the barn/alleyway areas. I figure the horses are out of the sun and it's cooler under the covered arena shade than it is out in the turnouts, so the horses are one up already :) Just wondered if anyone had any feedback on owning/using either system.

Big fans that stir the air. Animals (people too) sweat so the breezes will cool them. Adding additional moisture defeats your purposes. A few Walmart box fans can make a big difference. I have one wired to the rafters so it doesn't come down with the vibration and it blows downward. Mine was a $5 yard sale special and it's on it's 8th summer.
