moving horses to new stalls

My barn where I board is being sold so the beautiful stalls I now have are being knocked down for a different set up. My 2 horses are moving into in and out stalls with the typical 12x12 indoor with mats and shavings.
The horses will move in aug 01 and the new owners take over sept 1, so the current barn manager doesnt have much of an incentive to give me beautiful stalls. Both of the stalls were housing occassional show horses. all healthy, etc. that have been in the stalls for over 1 year.
My question.. I can pay the barn manager that will leave aug 31, to make these stalls look like surgical sites, lol.. What exactly should I ask him to do with the inside and outside portions of the stalls. He is very kind , but he is leaving. I prefer to incentivize him with some cash so he will go the extra mile. He might go the extra mile now. maybe not.. what should be done for best fresh start..

If I were in your situation, the most important thing I'd keep reminding myself of is that it's never wise to invest a lot of money into a property that someone else owns and has control of.

When a barn changes hands, you have no real idea of what the new owner will do with it in the future, heck they may even decide to close it down or rent the whole thing to an exclusive trainer and kick all the current boarders out.

No matter what the barn manager does now, he will soon be out of the picture and out of control and you could find that nice stall taken away from you and given to someone that the new owners prefer. I've seen this favoritism played over and over.

Stick to the basics and honestly I would not pay a penny for stall rehab. That is not your responsibility at all and things there will be very unstable (no pun intended!) until the new owners take over. Things always change with new owners and not always for the better! It probably wouldn't hurt to at least start looking at other boarding arrangements just in case.
