New Arena

Hey guys! So 5 years or so ago I had a riding arena, and it caught fire and burnt to the ground. Since then all the rubble has been cleared and I am having a Cleary pole building put up in its place. My question is what is the best kind of footing for an indoor arena? I know you don't want anything to hard or to deep, dusty, and it all depends on what kind of riding you do. All I am using the arena for is to exercise my horses a couple times a week when the weather is to bad to ride outside. Thanks

Have you concidered an arena made of the chopped tire? I rode in an arena like that in CO and it was very nice for warming up before a show due to it not being dusty or dirty-- I feel like the horse I rode also enjoyed the softer ground too. :)

Just an idea-- no idea what the cost is or what precautions for maintaining.

Playground mulch is fantastic. Just add to it as it breaks down over the years.

We were able to find a rubber tire product on craigslist from a recycling plant. It's the little nubs that are on the outside of new tires, they shave most of them off when they come out of the mold. Similar to rubber crumb or rubber mulch but this was way cheaper.
