My boarding facility has one round pen, owned by another boarder and we used to be able to use it but now it has a lock upon it. Don't ask why, nothing was damaged or done to it, it's a long story with drama unfortunately.
So I have taken it upon myself to try and get creative and build my own round pen. I have the location in mind already as well as begun getting the ground level and correct for use. I was thinking about a 60 ft one and I am even open to having it be more on the portable side if I were to need to take it down (heaven forbid).
Here is the kicker (excuse the pun). I am a nursing student and work at a Quik Trip, so funds are limited. I am also going to ask other boarders who expressed the want of another round pen if they'd be open to helping fund one if I built one for all of us to have access to. I have read articles online about budget ideas for this but you can never have too much research on this type of project. We need it sturdy enough to handle a green horse (though most of our horses are mature, we do have one 4 year old) but otherwise most of the other horses using it are very well schooled in round pens and respectful. Any ideas or suggestions are well welcomed and thank you for taking the time to read the post. :)
