Stall alternatives

Hey guys! I'm hoping to bring my horse home this summer, and, long story short, I'm trying to think of a way to keep him and his future partner at home over the winter. We have a heated barn that is large enough to place some stalls in, but in looking around, stall panels are much more expensive than I thought. With safety as my first concern, I was just wondering if this alternative would be OK for housing horses over night?

I found these panels > corral panels
Possibly combined with something like this > panel covers

I would place them a few feet apart to avoid any playing / nipping from over the bars.

What do you guys think, safe, not safe, other opinions?

I can't imagine the panels are kick proof, I don't know but it just looks like a visual barrier to me.

Could you not make the stall walls from 2x4s?
