Wireless Intercom for barn

I would like to install a wireless intercom in my barn, but am having trouble figuring out exactly what my needs are. My original thought was to just purchase a set of two way radios, but with battery life seeming to be a big problem on all available handsets, I'm thinking intercom might be better off, I do have electric in my barn. But the ones I am finding in my search run anywhere from 20 bucks to 500 and I'm really not sure what I NEED. My barn is about 130 ft from my house, all level ground, wood siding with a tin roof, but I will be having it re-sided and re-roofed this year, and probably going to put up aluminum siding. I really don't want to spend 500 bucks on this. Anyone have systems, and suggestions on what works well?
