    Awesome! Love horses too!
And re the grass, here in NZ at gymkaners(sp?) we race on the grass. Yes it poses a risk but doesn't all sport? Have never seen anyone go down yet :o)

Same here equinebovine! I've seen way more horses fall or slip on dirt, heck it's happened to me many of times. Every ground poses a risk of it's own.

The grass wasn't very slippery, some girls had already asked the judges about it to make sure, everything was fine.
Also I agree with the lot of comments saying that a lot of people barrel race on grass, i'm barrel racing on grass tomorrow as well for an inter school games competition, this time on my pony though.
It's quite a common thing, and as someone else said, yes the risk of slipping is slightly increased but it's not competitive and we all know the risks it can have.

    To each his own.

You won't find me barrel racing on grass. It's not worth the risk in my mind.

Okay you know what yes barrel racing on grass is more dangerous but you know what they have just as good as a chance as slipping in the dirt!! I'm lucky to even have a place to practice my barrels and I have practiced in the grass ever since I started barrel racing almost 7 years ago and have had more falls in the dirt running barrels than I did in the grass, I know that everyone is different about certain things but it's ok as long as your not flat out running them it's ok!!!
