I am in the same boat as you. I am 26 and want to start barrel racing and everyone I tell kind of laugh and say girls who barrel race usually start when they are young like in high school. Doesn't matter, even though I will need training for myself and my horse, I am still going to give it a try.

Sure, sounds good to me haha. It might take me a little while though because she's just being started under saddle this year so there's a lot to learn before we can even start the barrel pattern. I could probably round up another horse to practice on though. Whisper is an arab/paint, coming 3 yr old. She's kinda small, but can really move. She's also pretty spunky so I figured she'll do just fine.

First question: Are you breathing? If so then no you are not too old to start doing anything.

You aren't too old to start barrel racing. I am 28 and just got back into barrel racing and other equine sports. I have started by going to gymkhana that way we are doing multiple runs:)

Actually when it comes to pro the woman seem to be older but to get there they had to start when they were super young. I don't want to go pro or anything but people still look at me like "why now?" Like there's no point in even starting if you havn't been doing your whole life and don't plan to go pro. I say we prove them wrong lol.

You are NOT too old. I started running last year at 40. Mostly because I was working with my daughter's horses a lot and decided I might as well run too.
We don't have super fast horses and they are ALWAYS a work in progress, but we both do well in 3/4D. Our horses are consistent around 17.1 sec.
Have fun. Make friends. You just might win something.
