I went to a show today. It went fantastic. No pictures or videos. I've taken to leaving the cell phone in my truck since it always ends up in the water bucket. *sigh*
We competed clean in 5 out of 6 events. Which is so awesome for us. Avalanche did great, like always.
In Kegs, she tripped going around the top keg and jerked the rein out of my hand while she regained her balance. Then before I could grab her, she started running home. Lol. So I pulled her up and went back to the top kegs and made her lope through the rest. (Some people call this event cones? But we have mini kegs (8) in a straight line and you weave down, turn around the top, and weave back.)
Poles, we placed 2nd with a 24something. Nice clean run. We are stuck in the 24s but I really can't complain. Avalanche is only 14 hands after all. Lol.
Speed and action, we took 4th. But, she has a really super bad habit of stopping before she slides into the box. This girl can run an 8.6 in this event if we do it right. We ended up with a 10.3.
Down and back, we took 3rd. Nice solid run. 10something. (Low 10s, but forget the number)
Barrels. We took 2nd with a 19.6. Large pattern. Winning horse ran a 18.8, but that horse was just massive. Lol. Avalanche also tripped around the 2nd barrel and we got hung up. So we would have been close to the winning time. I can't complain though, she ran good.
Flags. We rocked first place with a 10.0. It was...perfect.
There is also the challenge this arena holds. If you complete flags in 15 seconds or under, you can do the challenge. Which is flags, twice. You do your regular flag pattern, but have to turn your horse around before the timer and then do flags again! Think its easy? Ha, not when your horse knows to run home. They are like what are you doing? When you try turning them around. Its quite difficult. We ran a 26 in that, winning time was a 25.6
So I took a 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd and a 4th.
And...drumroll...Was Adult High Point Winner of the day.
Avalanche also went to a money show yesterday and ran there with her owner. (I had to work) and she took High Point 20 and over there too. Totally rocked the show. Except the owner had a difficult time getting her into the arena there. He had to walk her in, jump on and go. And with me today, no issues. Owner was there watching today and couldnt believe it. I found it rather funny!
