. Personal Opinion of mine, I want a horse built to last. I see alot of horses with the heart for barrels and the talents but their conformation isn't made to hold up to the stress. I want a horse that's still running hard at 20.
As for the OPs horse, I see nothing terrible that says he can't do it, he's not ideal but he will work for what your wanting just fine. Posted via Mobile Device
I understand saying you want a horse that's built to last but my gelding isn't..He doesn't have the best conformation but barrels but if I let him he'd still run at 22..I still do haul him every now and then for the weaving events.. He kills those, not because of his conformation but because he has try and wants to do it.

Yeah I get what you mean :) I have a friend who has a 30 year old welsh pony that she used for gaming this year, and she (the pony) was more excited about it than my 4 year old! :P
Sometimes, all a horse needs to be a good barrel or cow horse is heart...forget the confirmation. And you won't find out until you give him a go at it. If you can train him the pattern...you could google the dimension space as per AQHA requirements, and practice it three times a week until it becomes routine for him. I believe the time is 16 seconds...anything under that would be good enough to enter in some local shows with him. Good luck!
