So.. I have a friend who has a hand painted pair of dressy cowboy boots. I'm considering trying to paint my own. Basically you just buy a plain brown boot and paint whatever you'd like on it. Now, I've been brainstorming this idea for a few days now but I'm still figuring out which paints I should use and such.. Thinking about making a trip to the craft store and Horsetown to see exactly what type of boot I would need.. Any ideas?
Wow you guys check out Rod's Western Wear! They have a HUGE clearance section. I just filled up a cart, bored, just got paid and am searching at work. ;) Have almost $300 in my cart, but for tons of stuff. I can't help sharing it... Thought I'd let you all know. Sale
I need to buy more shirts guys. I finally solved my crisis with jeans but now I have a shirt shortage of things I can wear to school...Stupid rules, no bra straps showing and straps with decent thickness. (I've been wearing camis all summer so you see the problem, right? Haha)
Probably just need paint that can work on leather surfaces, small detailed brushes, and then maybe some sort of lacquer finish you can spray over the boots to protect the paint from coming off. Because it will slowly flake off from wear and tear. The key is to NOT make the paint layer too thick. Keep it as light as you can.
I painted a lot of boots when I did the rodeo queen stuff. But it was painting an overall color to match an outfit.
My fav leather dress with awesome TALL boots. They went up to just below my knees.
And all the little cowgirls loved my green outfit .... including green boots.
