So.. I've been looking at boots and I think I've narrowed it down to a plain/smooth Ariat boot. I was thinking that the paint would work better on a smooth boot instead of a rough boot of one with lots of stitching.

This is the leather paint that I'd found, I'm liking that they have all of the different colors but I don't think an ounce will get me very far, I'll probably have to order the 4oz bottles?

Depends how much you want to paint, I guess! It's pretty cheap though, so a 4oz bottle wouldn't be a bad idea and it'll last for a long time.

Just remember that less is more! You can always go over with another coat if some of the leather is showing through. Once you get too much that's when the paint can start to crack.

I never purchased one but the best way to paint overall color on a boot was to get an air brush, so it was a really light spray. And then you just tape the sole and the heel/edges of the boot that you don't want painted. I usually just tried to find a spray paint that matched close enough to the shade I needed, although I did custom color match the turquoise boots with the dress. I painted them whole darned things with a paint brush! But they matched perfectly.

See, that's what I thought too.. Thanks.. I want to paint little designs on them.. The pair my friend has is covered in different things, they're gorgeous. They have silver wings painted as the main part on the back of the boot..Like a skull on the front surrounded by flowers..Then the toe is a sunset scene that blends.. I know it sounds tacky but they're gorgeous.. I know I'll use a stencil on a few things but I fell in love with the idea when I saw Autumn's boots.
