Well, I've been thinking about this thread for a couple weeks now and I've finally decided to write it all out.. In my barrel racing drill thread someone had brought up the idea of making a "Barrel racing fashion" thread..We all know that us cowgirls have to have that right pair of jeans..You know..Those *** huggin jeans.. The one or two pair that you make sure are washed and ready before getting ready for a show..This thread is to share all of your favorite brands, styles, fun ideas, and over all attire of the barrel racing world.. So ladies, have at it.

A few of my personal favorite brands are Miss Me, Cowgirl Tuff, Cruel Girl, Wrangler, Ariat, and the list goes on..

When it comes to jeans, Miss Me are my absolute favorite..I'm 5'3", long torso, long legs and butt that doesn't fit my body..Thank you weird genetics..I love American Eagle jeans, they fit me better than ANY other jean besides Miss Me.. The jeans by Cowgirl Tuff don't fit me that well, they run bigger and tend to be baggy on we little people..As much as I love their jeans, I just can't wear them.

I like all brands of shirts..Not really picky about those.. My favorite for button down shirts are Twenty X, Cruel Girl, and Wrangler..but you don't have to buy the super expensive shirts..Places like American Eagle, Abercrombie, Old Navy and other "normal" stores carry button down shirts..I buy a good bit of my button downs from American Eagle, the sale rack is my friend!

Shirts at smaller shows..I have a good bit of Cruel Girl t-shirts and I love them..So I usually have on a Cruel Girl shirts or some other brand like American Eagle or something..Just as long as it's cute, it could be from Target or Walmart for all I care..I'm not too good to wear a Walmart shirt if it's damn cute.. I HAVE to have on an undershirt though, oh my gosh.. I will go crazy without a tank top on..and Aeropostale has the BEST undershirts EVER.. I have one in every color.. I've broken more bras than I want to share and that undershirt has saved me from a few embarrassing moments...I have to have long shirts too..I have a long torso so I hate it when a shirt rides up when running..Yuck..

Boots..We all have super different opinions on boots, it's just a personal preference..My favorite brand is Ariat..Hands down..I have a pair of Rocky's right now that I'm in love with though. I've had them two years and they are still going strong..I will seriously cry when they die..

Belts..There are SOO many different brands of belts it's not even funny..I stopped looking for brands..Now, if I like it and want it I don't care what brand it is..As long as it's shiney.. ;)

Hats.. Again, soo many different brands of hats..I usually don't wear a cowgirl hat unless it's a bigger show..I'll wear a ball cap or just go without if it's a small show. I like classic looking hats, if the rest of my out fit is really eye catching I'll go with a basic black or brown hat, you don't want to over kill your look..Cruel Girl, Cowgirl Tuff, and other brands make awesome little ball hats and other styles..

Earrings.. Have to be shiney.. That is all.. Most of my WIDE array of earrings are from places like American Eagle, Montana Silver Smith, Charlotte Russe, Charming Charlie, and just other everyday stores at the mall..

Hair..Down or up, whatever you want to do..You gotta be cute.. because we you look good and are really rocking your *** huggin jeans and a smile, you're going to perform better.. I always perform better when I KNOW I look good and my jeans are doing awesome things behind my back.. I usually have my hair down, it's usually curly because when getting everything else ready, I just don't feel like straightening it..because I have a ton of hair and it takes forever to straighten it and then it's so curly it won't stay straight all day..

Remember..Your absolute best look is your confidence..and a smile..and some bling

I've done gel nails and didn't like them, but I do like the solar nails. The solar worked very well for me and I could ride in them, I just had to not throw everything around like I usually do. I never have my nails painted, I pick at my cuticles and it just peels off and looks awful. I will sometimes do a french tip or something but that's it.. I always have cute toes. Right now mine are bright orange with a design on each big toe...I don't have a favorite kind, if I like the color and it's not expensive I grab it.

I love nailpolish but I hate keeping my fingers painted for some reason. It would probably be better if I did because there is always dirt under them from riding, gardening, playin in the mud and such but my toes are a pretty colour all year round :) I only had them done once for my grade 8 grad, but I would like to get them done again because they clean them up really nicely.

Sorrel, I tend to bite my nails too and polish doesn't last long with all the riding I do, lol. I do love the Sally Hansen complete manicure though, I use that and still put one or two coats of top coat and it does stand up pretty well for riding. I vary so much between colors I've been favoring my pearl colored complete manicure I love it. My toes are always cute too, even if I don't see them often. I always loved having acrylic nails, but WOW does it HURT when you bump or knock them which I did all the time. ):

Have hats bee discussed yet? I wasn't sure and didn't want to dig through 24 pages...lol. But if not, I live in a camo john deere cap and have a black felt baily for winter, no straw hat for summer but its the law to wear helmets until you are 18 here so I haven't needed one for showing.

LOL, for me, it's black felt year around. I cannot keep a straw hat on my head, especially with the wind we have here in the summer. Even if I keep my stampede string tied tight enough to choke me, the hat still won't stay on so I stick with felt.

This is what I have as my old nasty work hat
Larry Mahan® 3X Oplin Black Felt Cowboy Hat | Cavender's Boot City

And this is the one I just got a few weeks ago for my nicer occasions like rodeos and parades
Rodeo King® 3X Black Felt Cowboy Hat - 806 | Cavender's Boot City

For just chilling out when I don't want to wear my felt, I've got a green camo cap that I got for free from Corriente when I got my saddle from them.

I have my corriente cap as well to wear, plus a fancy red ball cap that even has a bottle opener tucked underneath. ;) Otherwise, for summer I wear my straw cowboy hat, or my black felt one if I feel the need to be fancier. With the way my crazy little arab acts I've gone through way too many to wear the more expensive hats, lol.

I love riding in my ball caps in the summer. I have a bunch. My black and yellow "No Worries Club" (Clinton Anderson), A blue one that says "Turn N Burn Barrel Racing", and then my absolutely favorite would have to be my pink and black "Whiskey Drinkin' Cowgirl" hat. :)

As far as cowboy hats go...Charlie 1 Horse is my favorite brand.

I got gel nails when i got married....cut em short right after that was all said and done with..I had visions of ripping one off while riding, plus they hurt like hell when i had them taken off! haha, Im not a nail-sy kinda girl but i will paint mine sometimes if i have been chewing them.

#245 ·
I've tried gel nails...they lasted 2 days before they chipped. Sigh. I love doing my nails but I gave up recently since between being a vet tech (all that rubbing alcohol and chemicals!) and riding they just don't stay nice. I love Essie and OPI though.

One thing I don't ride without are my sunglasses- I have a pair of Oakleys- I think they are half-jackets.

I love Miss Me jeans but I just can't afford them:cry: I like American Eagle jeans or wranglers, it just depends. I love Ariat hands down. Shirts, Boots, or jeans I will definately go to Ariat for my needs. My belts are by Montana Silversmith or any that have "bling" :) My hats are random, and I have a pair of Ariat boots that have been with me for 3 years and still running :) But I have other pairs of those too. :)

I probably already said this but I am so mad that I can't wear bling jeans for equestrian team. I mean, we aren't even allowed fancy stitching.

I get it for the performance 'cause they want to stay traditional but it's ridiculous in the barrels and the gaming...who cares...? Does it effect how your horse runs? Everyone runs in bling these days...

Oh man DrumRunner, I love this thread!!! I work at a local farm and ranch store very similar to Murdochs and I work in our clothing department... which is amazing but at the same time kills my paycheck. We just started carrying MissMe jeans and silvers. I always though spending that much money on those jeans was insane, but i am now addicted to them and will never go back!! (plus the discount is great $50 a pair) lol

I totally agree with ya on if you look good you have better confidence and do better!! I always get all done up for races or rodeos. Seratelli hat or Charlie 1 Horse hat always. hair done, nails always done (never had an issue with ripping any off and i always have them done! acrylic not gels though) even my horse looks her best. She is always brushed out tail braided mane has no tangles whatsoever, matching colors for her tack with a lot of bling, she is such a barbie brat that even she knows when she looks good and wants to strut her stuff even more!!

Drum Runner you should really try the Silver jeans they are super comfortable, not as much bling as the MissMe but still equally awesome!!

Oooh I love this thread!

I havent been much into the blingy jeans, its Q-Babies and RM Williams jeans for me! However I found an awesome pair of Cruel Girl jeans online, can anyone tell me how they fit? I was a 7/8 in wranglers but am just moving down to a 5/6, but I have a ghetto booty!

Shirts, at work and smaller camdrafts I just wear bright coloured half button shirts, Dust N Boots are my favourite. For bigger events I have some Wrangler, Ariat and Thomas Cook shirts I love.

I have this Tony Lama belt:

And this Tony Lama belt too:

I wear Ariat Terrains for work but for drafts I have Ariat Western R-Toe boots. I just can't wear anything square or pointy toed, I think it makes my feet look MASSIVE so i'm limited on pretty boots! If anyone knows any fancy boots with a cuban heel and a rounded or slightly pointy toe I will love you!

My hair I just pull back in a pony, I have never tried curling it though! Any tips for curling really THICK hair that is easy, as i'm lazy ha ha?

Earrings I love pearl ones, especially with diamontes around. I'm searching or my perfect pair, a small half pearl surrounded by small diamontes. Harder to find than I thought!

I never wear makeup when I ride, i've never even thought about it!

I don't wear nailpolish often as I always forget to take it off, and half chipped polish is not a good look!

I looove pearls too. My mom bought me a pearl set when I turned 16 and I wear the earrings every single day. They're just classy to me.

I love that first belt too, very cute!

I used to have the square and pointy toe boots too, for the exact same reason as you. I wouldn't even try them on, even if they were cute. When I saw those Tony Lamas I just got I had to try them on and I ended up loving them. I wear a 6 or 61/2 and mine aren't a harsh square toe so they don't make my feet look big. I'm extremely pleased with them.

I have thick hair too and I don't have the patience to curl it with a curling iron, I just roll it. I'll blow dry, roll it, and finish getting ready while they cool. Take the rollers out and shake my hair and run my finger though it, hair spray, and done. Really easy..

I LOVE those jeans you posted too..

Yeah, I just put them in myself. I use hot curlers, whatever kind. They don't have to be expensive but I've got them from Ulta..You just plug the thing in that the curlers sit in and wait for them to get hot, then get a good piece of hair and wrap it on the curler, put the little clamp on and let cool while you get ready. They work great.

Thanks! Ill have to pick some up when I get home!

Definitely going to be a shoppin spree when I get home! I ripped three pairs of jeans already, so I need to restock! I'll be jumping straight into competition season too.

I'm thinking about getting this hat when I get home, as my cream one here is filthy!
