Barrel racing help please? :)

I finally brought myself to come here and ask for help. When turning you're suppose to sit at the barrels, I can't bring myself to do that. Is there anything anyone would recommend for me to do to get me in the habit of actually SITTING down in the saddle for my turns. Im the same way when I run poles too. When I'm doing slow work at home I make myself to it, but when it comes to running the pattern its like I forget or something. I would really apperiate it if someone can give me some tips. Thank you.

Do you have any videos of you running so we can see?

Conformation is how far the horse CAN go,
Mind is how far the horse WILL go,
Training is how far it DOES go.

Are you just forgetting to sit when you should when running? I have a really funny and kind of goofy way to keep that in mind. I told my lesson kids that and it's how I remembered to drop my hand, hold the horn, and sit deep in my saddle..

Think of it like this..The horn is like a wii remote. You have to hold it and lean to "play" the game right.. I wish I could show you, it makes so much more sense. When you're working at home make it a habit to remember to use the "remote" when turning..I actually started making like sound effects to remember and made a game out of it, this helps even though it sounds stupid...My sister will "lope" around on her feet and make the hand movement, dropping, acting like she's holding the horn. Just make those movements a habit with whatever you're doing and it will stick..LOL Sound effects help..Sounds stupid, but it works. I even still end up making the sound effect when running, just habit..Kinda like a race car accelerating and then stopping..

How I get myself to sit down actually helps my mare turn better too, so it's kind of a double win.

I really need to drive her into her first barrel, so, when I sit, I go to the horn, and kind of use my abs to push myself down which then helps push my horse into the barrel, and keeps me sitting nice!
