Morgan horse, mare, 3.5-4 years old, 13.5 hands tall. Can turn on a dime and loves to run. What do you guys think?

    Trained
Long back, extremely steep shoulder, weak hindend, steep croup. And no good muscle tone at this time.

You could train him for it, but I don't think he'd compete well even at a local level. He'd probably be the 'go out there and have fun' type.

I would have to agree he would be a go out and have fun horse. However he is a beautiful boy :)

He's small and not very well built for barrels IMO. He looks really unbalanced and his hind end isn't put together well. He's small boned. You probably could train him to run barrels but I just don't think he'd do very well at a competitive level.

For the OP, my horse( sunny) Isnt BUILT for Barrels either. But he has the heart. I am STILL in the process of trotting the pattern( loping a bit to) I am going REALLY slow with him now.. because he may have a harder time my vet said. So I say.. If your horse has the heart.. Go for it.. just be cautious. Pay close attention to if he becomes "off" or something seems to start to bother her. Go very slow.. SLOW..

Maybe prove all the above wrong hehe;) and the statistics of course.. .. but yeah.. Im in the process.. You work with what you've got, I can't go out and buy another horse, so Sunny's going to have to work.. Goodluck.
