Hi there guys just wondering if anyone could help me with my TB please note she is trained english and i will get a video up ASAP. she does a fairly good second and third barrel but she finds the 1st hard to get nice and tight
Are you allowing enough room to come in? Is she blowing by the barrel or drifting around coming out?
A video would really be the best way to help. Posted via Mobile Device
say youre running to the first barrel- dont try to get in and hug the barrel swing it wide like youre trying to turn a big truck in a tight drive way but dont try to get up really close- keep some distance from your leg and the barrel and shell find the 'pocket' and slide around real nice.
I know most barrel racers will give a constant pull on the rein but it works better for me when i pull release pull release pull release pull release around the barrels.
i have been riding her around barrels for about 3 years but she is also trained show jumping. the people before me rode barrels non competitivly for 2 years. she can get times of 19 seconds on a good day (ex-racer so can get some speed)
Can you post a video? It's hard to guess what may be going on.
On a side note, time in seconds on a barrel pattern doesn't mean anything because almost every barrel pattern is going to be a different size. The only way you can compare one barrel time to another is if they were both run on a standard pattern.
