I have an older Saddlesmith saddle that I LOVE. It doesn't throw me forward or make me feel like I am riding awkwardly. I had a Teskey's barrel saddle (a very well made saddle, though) that I hated. I couldn't sit in it, and when I'd turn it would fling me forward. It wasn't me, because I could drop my stirrups and everything and it was just an awkward ride.
Stay away from newer Billy Cooks and about 75% of the stuff you see on eBay.

I have kind of heard that about the billy cooks and circle Ys. Are they just becoming poorly made now? Also do you know any other brands new that are still decient?

Circle Y's are still pretty decent.
Billy Cooks are crap though.

I'd look into a used saddle. Older Billy Cooks are nice.

No....be wary of new Circle Y's. Billy Cooks have improved their quality. Make sure the BC is made in sulphur though.

Whats your budget?

So I rode in a Sherry Cervi saddle today and I have to say I loved it. One of my friends bought it new, broke it in, and let me use it on my gelding because stupid me forgot she only had her english saddle in the trailer before I pulled out.

This is the Dale Martin saddle I was talking about too...I really liked it. And comes with a lot of options if you custom order it from Martin Saddlery.

I've heard the Billy Cooks from OK (which I assume is Sulphur, unless there is a sulphur TX) are actually one the more poor end. I went to a big tack auction a last year, and there was a "custom" made brand new billy cook. I wanted to shoot myself, the quality was like that of cardboard. My friend had a brand new one, rather high dollar, and if fell apart around after a few rides.
I rather like this one: Saddles Tack Horse Supplies - ChickSaddlery.com Tex Tan Star Racer Barrel Saddle
