Thanks SorrelHorse :)
I would love to ride Selena!....maybe you can ride Gidget and help her on some things?

She did SO GOOD last night when I was practicing leaning forward and up in my stirrups. My reins were up on her neck and I kept whipping and kicking when we would run but around the turns I sat down...I practiced over and over and ran her for most of the part. Her turns were sooooo smooth! I don't have a big enough arena to practice the pattern so I just practice running around a cone in both directions. If she would slow down I would push her untill I was ready for her to slow down. AND! she wasn't upset when I was kicking...I think it's because the bumper spurs cover more area than the classic spur so not a huge jab in the rib.
I don't have the chance to ride tonight as it's getting late and looks like rain....I ended up reorganizing our bedroom and it took for ever!......I will see about breezing her in the fairgrounds arena :)

Oh man...

I'm jealous of your problems. LOL. I can't get my mare to sloooow down when we're on the pattern.
No amount of slow work is going to help her, you let her pick up speed once... and she's a lost cause, she just wants to go HARD.

And I'm just like: "KAY. You're completely opposite of the other horse I run barrels with. Just give me like... a long time... to figure out how to ride you on barrels? KAY? thanks."

Bahhaa.

She hasn't seen a barrel pattern in two months. Before that, I worked her on the pattern every 3 rides. Of which, one was a trail ride and the other was arena work.
She's just got some fire....

Yeah absolutely, we can do a little pony swapping!

I'm glad that she's doing well for you. Hopefully next time you can at least win a 4D check maybe? ;D

And QH, Selena gets hotter and hotter like that too, particularly at gaming shows. Ruger on the other hand is like "I'M RUNNIN' MOM SEE HOW FAST I AM??" and I'm just there like "-facepalm- You're barely loping kiddo..."

It's okay though, until he matures and gets more solid and less agitated by things he need not know how fast he can go! LOL. Heather, you saw how bad he was for awhile there at SOBRA....xD
Gidget and BarrelRacer67 like this.

Pssh.I didn't pick up the wrong lead
It's called a counter canter...
...A very advanced maneuver.

My girl hasn't been to any jackpots or anything yet. She's gonna be a hot tamale I think. Gonna need a REALLY long warmup.

She's more like... (Insert whiney teenager voice here) "MOM. I OBVIOUSLY KNOW EVERYTHING. I'M RIGHT AND YOU'RE WRONG. NOW LET ME GO FAST!"

Haha I know she can go faster though. I think I'm going to hold her off the gaming until next spring though.

Yeah totally let us know. :)
