Here is April she is my 18 month old Quarter horse. She is 12h now but measured too be be JUST 14.1h grown. Her Sire was an awsome barrel racing horse. Does her confirmation look like she would make a good barrel horse. Now these pics does make her body look long and her legs look short not sure what happend lol maybe it was the angle lol I do have videos of her if you would like me too post those. She is a very sweet kind horse, but is FAST. The older she gets the bigger her chest and butt get lol
I think it's kind of hard to tell....Not good enough for conformation photos. And also you will have to wait and see on her attiude towards it. She may have the heart for it and she may not. Only time will tell
Irrelevant perhaps, but Bubba does have a point and is expressing concern. And I bet you that baby isn't going to run barrels with a belly full of worms anyway, but since that's not the problem we can move on.
If you could get some photos of her on flat ground and squared up, that would be helpful. Also, how is she bred? Is she registered? Who is the stallion you were talking about?
It's impossible to tell how any horse is going to do on barrels until you actually start training. Yes good bloodlines increase your chance they will do well, as does good conformation. But neither one is a guarantee.
And yes she may look "fast" playing around in the pasture, but I don't know that I would call an 18-month-old horse fast. Wait until they prove themselves.
ITA with Beau. At this point, there really isn't any definitive answer either way.
