Events I've Never Heard Of?

Hey everyone ! Me and a friend of mine are taking our horses to a little speed show on Sunday and they have events I've never heard of ! Can anyone explain them to me and tips on what to do ? I youtubed them but nothing came up. They are: Double Stake, Single Stake and Mystery Race .

Any help would be appreciated ! Thanks (:

From my experience at gaming events the double stake is going to have two barrels set up, one close to the timer/eye line and one at the end of the arena. The barrels with both have long wooden stakes with flags on them and you typically run up one side grab the flag out of the closest barrel go down while turning the far barrel you will place the stake in the barrel and pick the other stake out, run back and place that stake in the now empty barrel and cross the timer line. The single stake race is going to be similar, but will typically have both barrels, one right after the eye line and one at the far end of the arena, only this time you will have only one stake in the far barrel. You will run down to the far barrel, pick up the stake as you turn the barrel and run back and place it on the nearest barrel before you cross the timer line. As for the mystery race, it is probably going to be just that, an event that you won't know what it is until they announce it. Hope that helped :)

^^^Ditto.

I go to an annual show that has a "mystery" race. It's always a ton of fun! One year it was a small jump and a barrel turn. Another year it was a goofy obstacle course, timed.

Double stake ended up being a figure 8 through poles and we won that with a 10.3 . (: And single stake was run to a pole, turn it and come home . Our mystery race was run through cones, go over a jump, weave through 3 barrels, jump another jump, and back through the cones . It was a lot of fun and I was super proud of my mare . (:
