Roxy was crazy today. We have two barrels in the roundpen. Just getting her to use her body right and rate at a walk. She finds it impossible to walk around the barrels. She tried to trot around them the first few times. We worked on standing still for more than two seconds, then worked on side passing calmly, since she suddenly thinks she has to run sideways. I don't know why she is so hyper all of a sudden. After our roundpen work we went out on the dirt rode. She did this horrendous power walk about two miles out, then wanted to trot the whole way back. She is on grass pasture, no other changes, she is just crazy hyper. So we will be working on walking everywhere. As much as she hates to walk. She was great going around the barrels, she wasn't throwing her hip out or shouldering in. She listened to my legs perfectly, she just couldn't walk. Maybe a long trot before roundpen work would help blow some energy?

Keep us posted! Would love to hear your progress as I'm working on the same thing! Did you work on a lot of horsemanship? Side pass, rollbacks and such?

Yes, she loves rollbacks. I am going to try long trotting her a couple miles today before barrel work and see if that helps her focus

The long trotting before work did the trick. She was very focused and willing today. I love my little girl
