It has not been a good day...

Selena and I finally broke our streak of not hitting anything...big time...

I went to a gymkhana just to tune her up and boy did we have trouble. She's starting to get to quick in her turns, and I've been sitting down way too soon.

We had six events, and we hit something in three of them

In poles I almost cried because it was the FASTEST run she's ever made, she weaved like a pro, but we hit one on the first you can see right here.

Hit one in butterfly race and sidewinder race too. It was really bad and we're probably out of the season standings now.

Oh well. I'm bummed, but that's what I get for holding her up and not letting her do her job. Lesson learned...

Dont be so hard on yourself. Love the pic. I can't imagine how awesome it must fell to ride like that. There are many people that would just love to be able to ride a horse.

Thanks towboater. I'm still proud of how hard she ran for me, but we've reached a point where she's starting to step up and doing her job but leaving me behind. Need to start taking her to more places so we can get back on the same page again.

Story of my life with Red. Don't be so hard on yourself. You're a good rider and we all have bad days.

Give your a "mental run" right before you run so you can plan exactly when you will sit, what you will do with your hands, seat, and every other cue. Then go in there and do it!!

Thanks girl, that's the plan for next time :) She's normally really free running so I think I just wasn't expecting such a quick response from her. Then when we would hit something it was almost like she was going, "Well, Mom, you DID say to turn here..."

I'm uploading the pole run now so you guys can see it. I don't know what happened but did I mention I also lost BOTH my stirrups? Good lord, I must have been in another dimension or something.

Hey everybody hits a rut sometimes! Don't beat yourself up. Everytime I get in the sorting pen with Charlie im afraid ill choke him up. He can do it in his sleep he just has to deal with the sack of bones on his back!

Chin up chica and just sit back and enjoy it don't stress about it because that's when the mistakes are made! Just have fun with it!

Here it is.

Can you imagine how good that would of been had I of ridden her right? :/
Oh well, even with me not trusting her, losing both stirrups (Still don't know what happened) and being a little disheartened, she still tried her best to work for me. On the weave back I just let her cruise since I knew it was over anyway.

I love my girl though, and she gets better every time.

She's such a cutie. I still consider that a great run!! I probably would have slug out of my saddle if I lost BOTH stir ups.. you are a great rider!! Like Amazing.. literally. I wish you lived closer to me:( .. *sigh*.. off to dream now.

Don't sweat it. You'll get it next time! :) I have one that likes to run it her way and get close, but not close enough to hit the pole thankfully.
