Do I absolutely have to wear a hat for NBHA shows? I saw pics of my district and didn't see anyone with a hat on. However, it could have been fundraiser shows.
Also, if I decide to get the one with a string so it might fall off but not on the ground, will I still be penalized?
Hi,
For NBHA shows I don't think you need to wear one unless its a big show, like regionals, or world. And if it does fall off, even with a strap you still have to pay the $25(?) hat pick up fee.
The only reason I know is because I've shown NBHA for years and my mom ran our district for a while.
No, unless the showbill says it requires a hat. At State and World a hat and western shirt are required. As long as your hat doesn't hit the ground there is no fee, it's only $10 or $15. Posted via Mobile Device
Every show will have different rules. I would call the organizer of the event and simply ASK! Then you will know for sure and know what to bring to the show.
Or else, come prepared to the show (with a hat that will stay on) and ask a judge at the show.
I had emailed the person in charge. She did get back with me and no I don't have to wear a hat to our local shows. It would be nice to make it to a super show or world show, but they are quite far from me. Definitely maybe one day though! Anyhow she said its fine to get the one that has the string as long as it doesn't hit the ground. I think I'll wait on a hat for now.
