Out of those choices, I like the first saddle best. It is a nice weight, I like the rawhide horn and cantle, the cantle height is good and the seat seems deep enough. I also prefer the overall look of it.

#2 I do not like the alligator seat, as I have an ostrich seat and I actually wish it wasn't so slippery. So I prefer the suede even though I have a slick seat barrel saddle. Aside from that, it seems well put together.

#3 This is my second choice. I like the construction of the saddle. It looks fairly well put together. I'd prefer a laced rawhide cantle, but that's a personal preference. And I like the tooling and silver details.

#4 To me, this saddle looks a little poorly constructed and I do not like the shorter height of the horn. I do like the height of the cantle.

#5 Again, the construction looks to have a little less quality. I kind of like the angle of the horn, and the height of it. But I also wish there was more silver details.

Hope that helps!

Thank you VERY much ThirteenAcres!! :)

Okay, if you guys don't like these saddles..would you mind sharing some links to ones you would reccomend?

I like black seats, light oil, silver detailing, tall cantle & horn. Price limit is $800 and has to have shipping to Canada.

I'm agreeing with DrumRunner. Corriente, KO, and other inexpensive but well made brands (such as RS custom) are probably your best bet.

I bought a barely used RS Custom saddle and I really like it. It was actually in better shape and made better than the Billy Cook I tried (Go figure!). And, it fit my horses much nicer.

If all of their saddles are made like the one I have, I'd recommend them to anyone, but I haven't heard much on them, so it's possible that I got lucky.

But here are some examples...

I don't know if anyone has experiences with these...

Also, please message me WesternBella. I know where there's some decent saddles.

DrumRunner,

I like the KO's but $800 is my limit :(

Plus I would like to see exactly how it would look before I bought it.

I saw this saddle on ebay today, and wanted it sooo bad. It ships to US only, but there are ways to work with that.

You get what you pay for....and with all those your probably going to end up with a sore horse and a saddle that is falling apart faster then you can snap your fingers.

Check Ebay...there are LOADS of good brand used barrel saddles for cheap (just looked). If I didn't have the money to buy a decent saddle I would wait until I could afford a good quality used saddle instead of a poor quality that would hurt my horse.
