Still agree... a trainer can help you establish a good bond with your horse, become more comfortable, and head in the correct direction with both of your training.

It's an inexpensive option.

Agreed on a trainer, esp if you are not comfortable on the horse right now.

I agree with beau159 & reining girl! Start with slow work and someone to help you. Start with a walk and trot until you know he is totally listening to you before you ever add a lope and more speed. Someone told me this once and it made so much sence! "Green on Green makes Black and Blue!" Saftey first! Good luck and have fun. :)

THanks guys! I've been on the hunt for a trainer. Think I found one. He ran barrels for 20 years and now does mounted shooting. He boards at our barn...so hopefully he can show us the ropes!
