How to get her ready to run?

My mare likes running the barrels and poles sometimes. She really gets into it at times, but is really lazy about it at other times and just won't give you the take off.
Whenever she jumps, she's always ready to go. She goes crazy for it.. but she's also my speed horse. So I need to know what I can do to encourage her to be more excited about it at times. And no, she's not one of the stupid psychotic horses, that can't handle their energy, so don't worry about that. She'll get kinda jiggy, but that's the extent of it.
But I guess I need tips in general, not just for the speed. When she jumps is the only time it seems like, that she's ALWAYS ready to go forever.

When your doing barrels do you just do competiton? Do you do the pattern over and over? Try changing it up. Go the opposite direction, change the pattern. Do other things with the barrels. Just try making it fun if you can.. if the horse doesnt want to run barrels, your not gonne get the best outta them.

My mare is like that too! She likes running them but sometimes she is lazy and she does the same thing about jumping haha. If you run the patern alot change it up, my horse has gotten better about it when I started doing exersizes that help with barrels and make them better without running the patern and getting the horse sour or lazy about them. You can just google barrel excersizes and some should come up..... hope it helped.
