How tall is your horse?

Just curious, in the past 5 years I've seen more and more of the big 16 hand lean looking barrel horses. I have a 15 hh mare, a 15.2 hh gelding, and my colt is only around 14-14.1 hh and their all pretty stocky.

Note: not saying any height or build is better, or faster. I'm just curious to see what the average height is for a barrel horse, hear ppl
S opinions ect.

My horse is 14.3....

I think 14.2 thru 15.2 is a good height. I don't like When a shows I see big stocky 16-17 horses doing speed. Like big Belgains and percherons. Its really not safe to Game a big horse

I can honestly say i've never seen a draft horse do barrels, here it's QH and Paints only. Some Appys, maybe a few Arab crosses. But I've seen 17 hh Quater Horses run barrels

17hh Quarter Horses??? Had to have a lot of TB in him...I don't run barrels but my girlfriend does, her mare is in between 15.1 and 15.2 and she has asked me a couple times to use my mare for barrels who is 14.3.

The Paint mare I have that is trained for barrels is 15.3.

We don't plan to use her for barrels though. Poor thing has all of this speed in her pedigree and we just want her to do trails. Lol

I have a super tall OTTB I think he's like 17.3 or 18HH. He has a small build but can out run every horse on the track or at a rodeo. But I also have a lot of shorter quarter horses around 14.2 - 16.3 that can run a pattern like it's the last time they'll ever do it.

So not true. I owned a solid black AQHA 17.2hh (sticked) gelding. They did not even start him under saddle until he was 4 just before I bought him due to his height and his knees nt being together. He was not a TB or appendix. I loved that boy, ended up selling him due to a divorce but he was an amazing horse.

This is his link to All Breed and you can see it is quarter horse in him

Wow, that's impressive! I didn't know QH's could even get that tall without a lot of TB influence.
