Even all my Charmayne James, Martha Josey, and Sharon Camarillo books I have say that you need a tie down if you have certain problems and there's a list of things!!!
But you do NOT understand that these world champions have trained their horses properly FIRST, and the tie down is being used as a compliment to good training.

You have NOT trained your horse properly.

You pushed him too fast too soon. He has serious gaping holes in his barrel training.

This tie down is only going to work temporarily. Your exact same problems WILL come back eventually if you do not instead FIX them.

You are NOT using the tie down for the same reason the world champions are using it for, so quit making that excuse. You are using it to cover up the holes in your horses training. They are using it as a compliment to prior good training. THAT IS THE DIFFERENCE. I can't believe you cannot comprehend this.

But go ahead and post the video. I guarantee we are still going to see those holes we've been pointing out all along.

Tack cannot fix training. Period.

It is not that tie downs are horrible. No one ever said that. Tie downs do have their place in barrel racing. Yes, many world champions do use them. But for your individual horse and your unique situation, you have no business putting a tie down on him. You are not using it for the right reason.

You are sure talking like you are an immature know-it-all.

Yes we do know your horse. You've posted videos before about you barrel racing and we've seen with our own two eyes all the holes he has in his training.

Any Joe Schmo can "train a horse". Doesn't mean squat unless you actually do it right. I didn't want to be the one to actually say it, and I hate to sound so harsh, but you are not training your horse to barrel race correctly. You aren't. Face it. Take our advice, quit racing him, and fix his issues first. Or else he's going to become another one of "those" psycho barrel horses that cannot be controlled.

You should read your posts...because you sound super snooty in them.

And your initial post I had to laugh....because you ask us for help....blow all our advice off...then come gloat and rave that you put a TD on?

And since non of us know what we are talking about you better just stick to what the pros say because they know everything, and do no wrong.

So please tell me what major barrel race you have WON recently? (and I'm not talking about a little local jackpot with 40 barrel racers)

Or what PRCA rodeo have you WON recently?

Since we, in your opinion, are stupid and inferior to your immense barrel racing knowledge.....

[QUOTE=Kelsie1;1940613]Ok so almost everyone on here is telling me no I shouldn't use a tie down and yes everyone is different with the tack and equipment they use and how they train there horses!! But yes I got a tie down about two weeks ago, I got him use to it at home doing some exercise in the arena and walking and trotting through the barrels pattern usuing it, so today I had a barrel race and ran and he didn't even think about trying to pass up the first barrel he turned it really good and I'm so proud of him!!! And he didn't have wide arched out turns they were good tight turns (keep in mind that he always passed the first barrel up)!!!! I know that some of you are going to not like that I am now useing a tie down but you know what he's my horse and I chose to use a tie down!! It's not like it's going to kill him it's fine!! Everyone and I mean everyone of my friends that I barrel race with all have tie downs and everyone at the barrel race had tie downs!! I'm so proud of him!! I'll try to get the video up soon

Please point out where I asked anyone a question or for advice here!!
