I'm super proud of my boy! We have raced a total of four times now. Our first race was an epic fail  , our second, third, and fourth races were all at the same arena. Our times went from an 18.5 to an 18.0, and then finally, to a 17.2 with room for improvement!! :D :D Every single time I watch the video, I cringe. I was definitely NOT riding to the best of my ability! :? It makes me frustrated... but, hey! We were improving A TON! I'm ready for the next race!! :D :D

Congratulations on your success! I am starting training a couple of my horses to barrel race, but we still trot/canter the pattern because we're not good enough to gallop yet. :P You must have so much fun barrel racing with a horse that good!

A 17.2 would have been good enough to win the last 3 barrel events i have seen, with about .4 secs to spare.
If you and your horse have room to improve more, i suspect that you have a possible champion on your hands.
But, what do I know....lol

Thanks!! :D this just made my day!! :DI was also racing against Brittany Pozzi and Kay Blandford.. There were others too, but let's not get into that  Brittany ran a 15.4? the first day. The second day (I cant remember who won) ran a 15.3, so i was just out of the money. But, i still think my horse did amazing!! Good luck on the pattern Sis and hel!! :D

That's so awesome!
I know how that feels. People have used my horse in high school rodeos before before I got him. They all said he's a pain in the butt and not slow. Well. Our times have only improved every rodeo. I'm working towards that 16. [:

That is seriously what happened to my horse. An informed _________ (add whatever adjective you'd like) teen was rodeoing my boy before i got him. She beat on him and had really heavy hands. (Hes really quick and sensitive.) She would only ride him on race day. A quick warm up, run, and then he was done. Well, he started to sour. So, instead of actually slowing him back down to basics and giving him some time off, she switched him to running to the left! Thats about the time when my friend bought him because she felt sorry for him. My friend worked endlessly on calming him down, walking him into the arena, etc. She was afraid of him though, and didnt want to run him because he is QUICK and will WRAP a barrel (Martha-style) so, she offered to sell him to me. :) we have come leaps and bounds, buuut, we still have a looooong way to go. I'm looking forward to it though!! :D :D :D The teen that had him before said that he'd never been more than a 2D horse, but im willing to bet that he's going to be faster :D my friend thinks so too. He is powerful! He really doesnt look like it, but even at the lope you can feel it! (I pinky promise that I'm not just saying that!)
