I need your help! Barrel Saddle Questions

Okay so I just became certified as an Equine Sports Massage Therapist and we went over saddle fitting today. It was a great class but they are english riders and not knowledgable regarding barrels saddles :) I know that Gigi's saddles have not fit well and I have been trying to get one that does. She is narrow and high withered, so hard to fit. The Crown C I had didn't work and it was a standard gullet for them not super wide and I have a double J pro that turned out to be even wider and does the same thing. I got a saddle pad that helps but I want to get a saddle that actually fits.

So, from what I have found from my research it would be better to go with semi-quarter horse bars for her. I am wondering if anyone has recommendations or has had a horse built like this and found a saddle that works for this build.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

My horse, an arab/quarter horse cross is narrow and high-withered and my saddle is a semi quarter horse bar (SQHB). I suppose it really depends on the horse... like how much muscle he has, conformation, etc. It's really hard to tell without seeing the horse.

My old mare was built like that, I found most saddles from Cirle Y fit her really well. Like my old Connie Combs saddle. Also suggested by a chiropractor we got a built up pad for her, a Classic Equine Bio Fit to fill in around her high withers.

She looks a lot like my mare in the withers/back/shoulder area. I have a Dakota and it fits her really nice.

GGGiiiiGgiiiii!! Lol Sorry, I had to.. Now every time I see your username or a thread about Gigi I say it in my head..

It really depends, the semi-QH bars could work for her. The absolute best way to tell is to put a sheet on her to keep the saddle clean and try a ton of different saddles on her to get an idea of what will work best.
