Thumbs down Just sad (rant).....

There is this horse at the barn who is in the same pasture as my mom's horse. He is an 18year old spotted sadlle horse and is super calm and a nice kids horse, he is owned by an 18yr old girl who runs him on barrels. She just put him on this supplement that jacks him up and makes him mean just so he'll run faster and we only compete at local shows so does it really matter how fast he is? No. He is also used for lessons so lots of little kids who like to ride him won't be able to once he's on this supplement! Plus he's already a bully to my moms horse and pushy with his food and when he's on the supplement it just makes things worse. In my opinion if he is'nt fast enough for her than she shouldn't own him, or be pushing him like that especially at his age! *Rant over*

I love my horse -Cisco!!

While you may feel this way you also have to realize it's her horse and she chooses what to do with him. Frankly, it's none of your concern as to what supplements he receives..You also may not know the whole story behind the horse and why exactly she chooses to feed the supplement to him.. Really there's nothing you can do about it and all you're allowing it to do is get you worked up when you should just be concentrating on your horse..

im just saying that, if it were me I wouldn't want to change my horse's whole personality just for a few more blue ribbons, because I love him for his personality.

As you've been told many times on your other threads, it's not your business and there's nothing you can do about it. If he's hyper on the supplement and the lesson kids can't ride him, she'll lose the compensation for them riding him in lessons. Her choice. Regarding his age....18 is not that old; if he's well-conditioned and in good health he shouldn't have a problem running barrels.

BubblesBlue on this forum ran a 19 year old mare. She was kinda bad***.

There was a kid that ran a 42 (Yes, 42) year old gelding in the peewee division. Granted they only loped at that age but when he was younger that horse was a killer.

Rebel can run nicely and he going on 20.

Look on youtube and there's a video of a girl running her 38 year old horse (Might have been 36 in the video...?)

Age is but a number....
Gidget likes this.

Pssh.I didn't pick up the wrong lead
It's called a counter canter...
...A very advanced maneuver.

I know there's nothing I can do about it but it just bugs me, he also has to be seperated from all other horses for the time he is on the supplement which is unfair for him.

Your either going to have to let it bother you, or man up and say something even though it's really not your place to.

All the horses should be separated for feeding time anyways. If I boarded some where there is no way in hell I would have my horses in with somebody elses..

If the barn owner said something that is the end. The barn owner should also be careful about people handling this horse. At a barn near me a horse put two people in the hospital, after been fed high protein grain and supplements the barn owner are still in court over this
