My horse has dents!

Since he's gained his weight back, he is showing 'dents' in his girth area. I was told it was from Muscle Atrophy. I am wondering tho, if this is something that can be reversed? Or will it be causing problems later in life? He's not showing any sensitivity from this at all. Anyone else had a horse that's done this?
