Racing with a cracked hoof?

So my girl has a crack in her hoof (in the middle) and we have a race this weekend. I'm afraid to run her because I'm afraid it will crack more. I've been trying to call our farrier but he hasn't answered his phone in days (frustrating... I'm about to ask around for a different one if they'll come out in one day's time but I doubt it ).

Anyway, I guess my question is would you still run your horse with a cracked hoof? I have some conditioner stuff to put on it, will that help?

Thanks! :)

It would depend. Does this bother her? How long and thck is the crack? Can you post a picture?

It doesn't bother her and I rode her today. I don't have a picture of it but I will take one tomorrow and post it. I do have some hoof conditioner that my dad got and hopefully that'll help.

If it doesn't bother her and it's not like a gaping chasm of death across her hoof I wouldn't worry about it.

It all depends on the severity of the crack.

My lease mare has a vertical crack on the surface. I asked my farrier when he trimmed hooves a few weeks ago and he showed me that the crack doesn't actually go into the hoof wall to where it would be causing any type of issue. She still has 3/4 of an inch before it would even start to cause any type of issues. She has the crack because of of dry it was awhile back. No biggie for her, but I can't speak for your horse unfortunately.

Good luck.
