Repo's training thread!

Alright....so el boyfriend is letting me work with his horse, Repo:) she is a 5 year old thoroughbred! He basically has her trained his way, but there are lots of holes in her training that I want to work on and he simply doesn't have time. Once I have her going good again, I'm going to work her on the pattern and see where that takes us. She crazy fast and quick on her feet. But, first thing is first, she needs a top line..like bad. She has amazing ground work foundation and I give him HUGE kudos for how well she moves off leg pressure. There are just a few things that need to be addressed before we move on anywhere..like his use of a tie down with a shanked snaffle (tom thumb....*epic face palm*)

Sooo let's see where this goes!:P any help will be appreciated!:) First work day is tomorrow!

(let's see if this will work)

Okay! Ride went quite well!!:) she flexes nicely at the poll, I was able to get her to trot in a nice rounded frame. She could stay rounded in a trot quite well, but not so much in a lope. She doesn't have enough muscle to do that, so im very satisfied for hoe much she tried. I asked the BF why he rides her with a tie down, and he says because she gets buddy sour on trails and spazzes out.

Worked on lots of circles, bending and flexing...one thing I noticed I'm going to have to work on is her back...I can't stand a horse that you use all rein to back up, I prefer all leg. She was very confused when I cued her, lol.

Also trotted circles around the barrels, not working on much, just getting used to positioning her in a circle with leg pressure.

She needs to learn her leads, also, but I think that will come with proper conditioning.
