After sooooo many months of recovery, I was finally able to ride Rumor at her first show since the injury last September.
It was rough. She was in heat and feeling sassy and herd-bound but we made it through without any rearing or bucking or falling off.
And even if she didn't act very well, I still have fun finally being able to ride her. And she **** well looked pretty out there! She got a lot of compliments and many people came up and asked about her.
I went through 3 bits with her tonight. *sigh* The Myler snaffle I usually ride her in ='ed no brakes tonight. So I put her in my combination bit, which she did okay in. But every time I asked her to go right (with legs, seat and rein) she was tossing her head and throwing a fit. So I went to a hack. And she still was doing head tossing and being a brat. She just had her teeth floated when we had spring shots. She just needs to be worked and more miles put on her to work out the attitude! But after 8 months off, what can you expect?
I was very patient with her tonight. I stayed off her face when she pulled her hissy fits. Just sat them out and used legs pressure to get her moving again. Just being able to ride her in the arena was such an achievement for us.
Onto the pictures and videos. Sorry about some of the videos being dark. The sun was going down. But...you get the drift! And during kegs, my moms horse was impatient and nudged her arm, so that's when the camera wiggled. LoL.
Standing impatiently with my mom and Nutmegg.
^ That's right, you heard correctly! A time of 95 seconds! We were smokin'!
And just for reference...This is where we were the first part of September 2012...After 5 days of stall rest because she couldn't place weight on her leg. At all...
