Sassy's first barrel race!

I wasn't going to compete, I was going in for fun and to give her some experience.

Sassy has been loping the pattern quite nicely other than breaking down when we leave the barrel. She was acting really stupid at the rodeo last night (I was there as part of te
the Royalty). She was bucking, spooking, being INSANELY buddy sour. She got better as she got loped down. I decided to go ahead and run (slightly fast lope and running home lol) the barrels on her.

She did fantastic!!! Once I find the pictures I'll post them. Please, no critique because I'm positive my hands are going to be terrible. They took the pictures at the left barrel, and right before it I had to push my hat down, then my saddle started to slip over to the left BAD so I was trying to counter balance that. Sooo...when I get the pictures I'll show you and you can laugh XD I'm proud of Sassy though, she didn't break down like she normally does, didn't offer to buck on the run home, she rated herself for each barrel and the only thing bad was her not being able to go in a straight line from barrel to barrel...lots of random "whoop mom where are we goin??"

Yay Sassy!! And that picture isn't bad..You can really tell your saddle was slipping though.. Lol that moment of mini panic attack around the barrel.. She looks good though for her first few times!

Yeah!! And thanks!!!It was baaaad...very awkward feeling. No idea what was going on. I had my normal saddle and pad, the cinch was tight, and Sassy isn't very round backed..who knows. My guess, we probably ran a 21-23. Top runs were low 17s, my goal would be to have her at 19 come winter. She walked into the arena nice and calm, even when we were doing our rodeo queen laps 3 times. I'd really like to take her to a Martha Josey clinic, I think we could both really benefit from it.

As soon as the photographer uploads the others, I'll show them off. :P
