    Second Barrel!

My mare recently started to hit her barrel on the front side. I have tried to stop her when we get to the barrel and scoot her over, and continue (in a Fallon Taylor video). I've also worked on pockets, walking the pattern and trotting. She runs lefty and I'm used to running right barrel first!
    Any help is great!

Do you have a video you can post? It's hard to guess what may be going on without a video.

Are you leaving the 1st barrel wide? You may not be getting over enough for her for the 2nd barrel.

Are you inadvertently asking her to turn too soon?

Are you looking at the barrel?

Are you trying to hold her off, by turning her head away from the barrel, causing her to shoulder in?

If this is a sudden thing she started, it may indicate that she is hurting somewhere.

Again, a video would help see what is going on.

Make sure to finish your first barrel by heading straight to the second pocket. To truly finish your barrel, you need to push their shoulders over (Like doing a side-pass) after their around the barrel. Use lots of leg pressure and when walking the pattern, really exaggerate how big he needs to make his pocket. Much luck :)
