Selena being a boss...

So we ended up doing our race in a different arena than normal. She can run a sixteen in the other arena on barrels, but the fastest she's ever ran in here was a nineteen. When she gets inside that arena she just shuts down. Well not today, luckily.

We have been working on getting her to lift her shoulder and put her butt down, and getting her to finish her turns. Yeahhh this run isn't the best example of our progress in those areas, but compared to last time I think she did okay.

Oh, yeah, and I hit myself with the over and under. I shouldn't be allowed to have one of those.

No Critique Please. :) I've been tearing us both apart for hours.

Okay and we entered Biwrangle, not sure why since she's never done it before, but she did really well in this one. She wasn't entirly sure what was going on though. Next time she'll do even better :)

I have keyhole and speed barrels still uploading so I'll post those later.

Yay!! You two looked great :)

I LOL'd at the description. I don't think I will ever use a barrel whip because of that ;)

Wow, you guys look really great! I know what you mean about horses performing better in some arenas than others. Usually when I show at our local Expo center we are in the bigger main arena...higher roof, bigger building, nice and roomy. But last show they put just 1 of my tests in their teeny multipurpose arena. Different builder, lower roof, and no natural light.... Cinny HATES that one and all he wanted to do was bolt and crow hop like a nervous wreck. Too bad we were doing Dressage and not barrels, we might have done well haha

Thanks you guys!! I am so proud of this little horse. She isn't an amazing 1D pro rodeo caliber horse, but she tries for me, and I think that over the summer with more work and seasoning we'll be able to make her competitive at least. She really loves her new job. :)

Here is the keyhole run. It was a no time. Selena was under the impression we were supposed to run all the way to the wall, and then on the way back it was something along the lines of "HEYMOMITSAPOLEDON'TWETURNTHOSE?" andddd we cratered it. Her expression afterwards was priceless, like "See mom? See how great I was?!"

I can't be mad at that little brat. LOL

LOL.
I can definitely see the effort she puts in for you, I can't wait to see her after you start to get her really competing- I think she's going to make a very nice competition horse

Thank you :) I think she is too. I can't wait to look back on these videos and then compare to what she becomes. She shaves off time every single run in every event so I'm interested to see how long that keeps up!

It was early in her competition season but she has a tendency to shut down after the third barrel. I want her to know that going home means we are going ALL the way home. Plus, she has a good enough foundation from the reining, cowhorse, ranch classes, etc and a good enough handle on what she's doing to start stepping up for me. I didn't start using the whip until the last show, and I wouldn't have had it of been a young horse instead of her. Plus, she doesn't stand for kicking or leg action when we run in a straight line going home. She gets mad because she is sensitive to your leg, but she is good with the whip. There's a lot of differant reasons for the whip. My particular over and under makes more noise than it does contact. The stupid thing makes a huge cracking noise even when you just tap your leg with it.
