I guess if I barrel raced to make money or simply break even, I would have quit a long time ago, LOL.

I haven't won a check in barrel racing in 2 years. Red hasn't been ready and/or has had different soundness issues. I go into the arena expecting my horse to perform to the best of their ability ... I never expect to win a check. It's just an added perk if you have a nice run and win a check.

Sure, I've had lots of shows where I paid back entry fees, filled the truck with diesel, and still had a little left over. It's nice. But I've had way more shows where I've not won a cent. I guess I go to a show or a race with the idea in mind that if I can't afford to spend the money on entry fees and gas if I don't win anything, then I don't go. We all know hauling is not cheap.

Maybe I'm too much of a goodie-two-shoes to sandbag.

Besides BarrelRacer23: You've got your eye on that 1D saddle next time, right? Who cares about the 3D saddle..... Don't get me wrong, I'd love to win any saddle. But I think my own peace of mind would eat me alive.

It is not enough to know how to ride; one must know how to fall.

Next time around she can be pushed. But I wasn't even sure she was ready to enter this series...I ran a faster 2D horse last season, who wasn't mine. It would be fantastic if I could afford to just go balls to the wall and make her get in there and run and turn and change leads quick but...I can't. At least not immedaitely.

There are 22 possible runs this season. I have to run at least 11 times to qualify for Finals, which is two days and three runs. I've paid a couple hundred dollars just to even be qualified to set foot in the arena...not including all the other fees. If I was confident I could push her and not a) blow her up, or b) fall in the crack every single time, I sure as hell would.

After I run my eleven races and qualify for finals, we'll see about pushing her more. All things considered, she is still relatively green and inconsistent, and I'm not sure what her physical ability is. I was pushing her in that run I video'd and we still landed 4D... I don't know what she'll do in the other arenas but like I said, sandbagging isn't my forte, and while I can say I want to do it all I want, I'm not even sure it'll happen.

Pssh.I didn't pick up the wrong lead
It's called a counter canter...
...A very advanced maneuver.

I can only hope they will do another series lol, or he actually lucks into winning one at a show. I'd take any saddle.

Aw c'mon now. We know that Weanie can run!!!! Give her credit and trust. Watching your run again, you very easily should be able to make it in the 3D. She lost quite a bit of speed around the backside of the first barrel. Your second barrel turn was the best out of the three, and if she didn't have the little "hang time" moment, it would have been quite snappy. You slowed too much going into the 3rd barrel turn.

And I seriously think that next year, you two should be in the 2D. If you and her can get your timing down quick and fast in the turns. And I think I've told you before to trust her and send her into the turn at mach 90. She will turn. Trust her! You're still slowing up a bit before your turn.

Lol...I guess we'll see.

I gotta go fight tooth and nail with another girl for a buckle this weekend at the last gymkhana, then there's the second race of this season the day after, so we'll see what happens.

In that particular arena it's sooo hard to get Selena running. There's twin arenas like that on our fairgrounds, my videos are usually in the other "twin", and we run from the opposite side, but when I take her into that one she just kind of fizzles, like she's uncertain.

She definitely did get stuck a couple times there. I guess now we see what happens the rest of the season.
