Thanks BarrelBunny and BarrelRacingLvr! I get it now ;)

Horses are scared of two things... Things that move and things that don't.

well I just bought my first little rig so the past two weekends I have gone to shows :)

Here is my little rig :)
2012 two horse bumper pull slant load w/tack room

1st show: Sat. March 10, 2012
(it was a small added money show---> poles, arena, and cloverleaf)
Poles --> did not run
Arena--> got 4th in 3D with an 8.9 (winning time was 7.8) out of about 50-60 riders....I was about 20th overall
Cloverleaf--> slow run....dirt was really deep and I was the last in the drag...mare hates deep dirt and she was wide on them all because she could not get her footing

2nd show: same day ^^ Sat. March 10, 2012
(5 event point show)
Only made it for cloverleaf
Ran a 17.9 and ended up 7th with 15-20 riders (ladies age group)

3rd show: Sat. March 17, 2012
(5 event point show)

Poles --> got 4th with a very slow run of 28.....I was the very last in the class so I knew if I just kept it clean I would place and took it easy seeing as my mare has not run poles in about 4-5 months

Cones--> did not get on video but got 5th with a slow run of 11.....same again I was the very last in the class so I knew if I just kept it clean I would place and took it easy seeing as my mare has not run cones in about 4-5 months

Texas--> knocked a barrel...would have been a time of 11.189 with a wide turn

arena--> did not get on video and I do not even remember my exact time because my bra got caught on my saddle horn somehow on the back side of my turn and snapped...I think I ran a high 9 - low 10...i ended up with 9th place

Cloverleaf--> slow run (deep dirt) and some minor rider errors around the 2nd (I let her drop into her turn) ran a 19.119

(I ended up being one of the last riders in all the events ^^ and for some reason they do not drag during the class so I was the last rider in each class of about 30-40+ riders)

I have to work this weekend and can not take off so wont be going to a show this weekend but may hit up two next weekend. :)

I think this is overdue, still havent had a chance to get my videos uploaded.

Last weekend I went to a show, only ran Open had a good run but hit the wnd barrel would have been 3rdin in the 4D but oh well

Last week I forgot my tie down in the trailer of the guy who hauled me, so I worked without it. SO much better without the tiedown on.
Yesterday my home barn had a show, we got into the low 15s there. I like running the same pattern because I know if he's improving. Won the 2D in the Youth and got deep going to the 1st my Open run and got a bit slower so was out of the 3D. Still happy with him, he's only getting better.

On another note my old mare Patty did great yesterday with her new little girl. Ran just out of the 2D in Youth, they improved a whole second. And went to straight to the 1st in Open but still wasn't bad and not much slower. Faster than the last show. I like seeing the mare I rode for years still doing good.

Had busy weekend! Had a race Friday night and a race yesterday.

I just did exhibitions with Scrat on Friday due to them not having a novice. He worked really well and when I cruised him through he really rated down on the 2nd catching me off guard and we got it coming out.

Then JJ went for a blow....I should have made run on him at the house be figured he would be fine lol I was wrong. We still got a check though lol, not a pretty run...went by the 1st and by the 2nd then ate the 3rd lol.

On Saturday did some exhibitions on Scrat and he did good clocked a 20.?? On a standard pattern. Then just camped on JJ for awhile in their since he has been wanting to get a little hot. Then did 2 exhibitions on him and really focused on setting him down on his first and getting him to come back to me.

I ran Scrat in the Novice and he did GREAT! I was VERY happy with how he worked, he is still trying to figure out a few things but it will all come together soon enough. And you can tell he isn't sure of how to really stride out yet, but that is fine at the point he is at. So anyway he won 1st in the 4D Novice for his first win and first check!

Now JJ....he come back to me on the 1st, then I sat and set up up 2 STRIDES before the barrel. I have NO idea what the heck I was thinking or doing....and my head was up my @$$ so got the 2nd barrel. Oh well....I just need to work on my brain before the next race is and do some more fine tuning as well. But I'm happy with both the boys this weekend and can't wait till the next race!

Now here are the VIDEOS

Mind is how far the horse WILL go,

Wrapped and ready to load up!

Watching all the horses in the warm up arena...waiting for the novice. Already warmed him up but it was taking forever so decided to just get off and relax for a bit.

Waiting for the novice....

I finally had a chance to upload a few of my videos and pictures..

Didn't really push a whole lot through my cloverleaf pattern and I over checked her before the last barrel and made her go wide...Standard pattern..16.something and got 2nd.

Just cruised through poles, she hadn't seen them in 6 months and I didn't push her, just let her set the pace and do her thing..Ran a 24.127 and won it.

Nikki is NOT a cone horse, has never done well in this event but she did pretty well yesterday so I can't complain, won it..

And finally texas, ran a 10.070 and placed 4th.

Well I'm really depressed because this weekend was the Southern Oregon Barrel Racing finals. I had my trainer talked into letting me run one of my old Arabs that she now owns, but I got really sick and couldn't go :( The prizes were badass this year too. 4th overall got a halter, saddlebag, cooler sheet, and an ipad o.o 1st place in the D's got saddles. I really wanted to at least go watch but I really didn't feel like I could even stand up today let alone drive. Oh well, gymkhana season is starting so we'll be on top of that with Selena.

Pssh.I didn't pick up the wrong lead
It's called a counter canter...
...A very advanced maneuver.

Well, our first show was... interesting

We got 3rd under three judges and 1st under one in the halter class, won our walk/trot hunter under saddle and hunter eq. Class (but only because we quite literally had no competition). And then everything kinda fell apart in western pleasure. Although, one judge clearly wasn't watching us very closely and placed us third. Must not've seen us break from the jog six times or me reach up with my free hand to correct Ape

After that we decided to call it a day and just skip horsemanship and trail. Overall, not bad considering that was only the fourth time I'd ridden the horse. We're still trying to figure each other out. As you can see she looks so happy with me in these pictures

Oh well hopefully we'll do better next time!
