Barrelracinglvr don't you just LOVE your soft rides? I haul everywhere and stall them at shows with them on too Posted via Mobile Device
Yes I do! They are worth the money, best money spent in awhile. Ya most of the roads we travel on are brutal and ridiculous so the Soft Rides help a bunch in keeping them comfortable and sound on the road. And they hold up very well!
Sooo I took Selena to a gymkhana today to play....
And well.....We took second in Speed barrels (For clarification, it's the three barrels in a line) and we had never even practiced that before. Hell, we'd never even done any weaving before....But Selena worked like a pro, really smooth, stayed calm, put together one hell of a turn at the end. I wish I would have gotten it on video but it was raining and my camerawoman refused to get out of the truck.
We ran a 19 on texas barrels (Which is just a normal cloverleaf pattern) which is too fast for the B division but too slow for the A division. LOL. Oh well, I was more worried about keeping her together. She really got down and snaked around the barrels and powered out, which made me really happy with her. I took her fast to the first barrel, got a really nice turn, then let her go slower to the second so she could change her leads (She does it on autopilot normally but after the last run where she didn't, I thought I should make a point to do it for her) and that's where we got the extra time. She stayed in really tight to the barrels, ran her lines perfect, and was happy to haul her butt back across the timers. I was really happy with how she worked.
We only did those two events because I'm broke, LOL, but I'm super excited to show her again real soon :)
I have some videos of my friends I can upload. I really wish I had gotten a video, but everyone was busy with their own horses (Our runs are always stacked right on top of each other, too fast to pass around a camera, but since I am always first I went ahead and got the rest of the girls that came after me.)
Went to an award series barrel race Wednesday and my picky mare did not too much care for the ground and I was being lazy and not riding her like I should have.....ran and 18.? Winning time that night was a 14.8 so nothing for my slow self haha
Saturday went to a small local point show and placed 4th in poles with a time of a 40.? Plus 10 for two knocked down poles.....dirt was bad everyone was just about walking the pattern.
Dirt got better for cones and I placed 2nd on a friends gelding because my mare was just being a mare.
Ran my mare in texas...got 4th, ran her in arena....got 6th, and ran her in cloverleaf....got 5th.
Kinda wish I would have signed up at the beginning of the show season cause I would def be going to state if I kept placing like that at the shows.......anyways I figured after all that I would give my mare and myself a day off and not got to the show today instead I will be giving her a bath and some treats and ended the day on the back of a 4wheeler with my love :)
I have 2 videos I will post later.....phone died after friends cone run Saturday :(
These are the other 2 videos that I managed to get before my phone died (reason for bad quality)
Holly and Tucker-- she placed 8th in cones (I think) and 4th in poles
(this horse - Tucker - is the horse I ran in cones and placed 2nd with)
Went to a friday and Saturday show. Both days my Open runs were horrible, due to mistakes made by me. Youth runs were great though, ran a 16.6 Friday night and got 3rd in the 2D, the Saturday I ran a 16.2 and was just out of the 2D it got faster that night, 15.0 won it. Just one video taken on a cell phone that youtube won't let me upload lol. Posted via Mobile Device
Yeah buddy!! This weekend I ran a 16.8 on Saturday and a 16.3 today! We're getting even better!!! (We started out at an 18.5) I'm so proud of my boy! We STILL have TONS of room for improvement! I'll see if I can upload today's video... I needed to finish first a little bit better, which would have helped the second, and then I needed to push him further into the third barrel and pick him up on the way out... BUT, it's okay. That was only our 8th time running!! I'm excited to get it together!! We were only a second off of Brittany Pozzi!!!
Here's the URL...
Well my weekend didn't go as good as I had hoped for but I can't complain because I did bring home over $200. Just didn't go as smooth as I had hoped for....
JJ Friday about lost his rider as he made a BIG move going into the 2nd and I was not ready for it since he has never made a move like that before. So while he had to catch my but we still ran a 18.2, and had a very good first barrel which I was wanting. On Saturday he wasn't rating down for the life of him and took us to the fence still ran a 18.0. On Sunday we did a bit change, which is the SS Sharon Camarillo correction bit that we use when he is running strong. And he turned the barrel better and had a much better run, ran a 17.6 which is his fastest time on a Standard Pattern with room to improve and he wasn't even running as hard as he was the first 2 days. But I don't have that video right now of Sundays run as my Videor got distracted talking to a lady and missed my first barrel so I had to order the video from the video folks there.
Now Scrat...on Friday it was after 1AM when I ran in the Novice and we hit the 2nd and I pulled him up as the barrel came up and popped him pretty good above his knee (he was fine). Then on Saturday I late entered in the Open as they had a Slot race going on and I would have ran at the same time again. And he was very overwhelmed with the people, lights, loud music, booming speaker and loud announcer. So he grabbed the bit and ran towards the photographer coming out of the first, got him pulled up and trotted him the rest of the pattern. So I drew out on Sunday as he was stressed Saturday night so going to do some tuning this week before we head to the next on Thursday. Going to do a lot of exhibitions and get him more comfortable with the new surroundings and going to slow him back down in the novice and let him take it all in. Just until he gets his confidence back up and is more comfortable with the loudness and all the commotion.
So I have videos of JJs runs Friday and Saturday and Quincys runs!
Got it on youtube so I'm adding my run
BarrelRacingLvr, I did the same things as you but in different ways last weekend. About came off on the 2nd barrel friday, then went wide all around them saturday. Both my fault. Just thought that was kinda funny. Posted via Mobile Device
