I had a show last weekend and would have posted sooner but was waiting for the pictures to get on the photographers site which only JJs first day is up. So I will go ahead and post the videos!

On Saturday we had a GREAT run! We ran a 14.148 and he WORKED GREAT! Inhaled his first barrel and just smoked a run! They didn't post the results after the open or anything so we got headed to bed since they closed to office 3 hours before the race was over....The next morning my best friend came in the trailer and hopped on the bed and woke me up to tell me we placed 2nd in the 1D out of 350+ riders! I was like O M G! So of course that got me a nice big check and got my entries and stalls back. I was very happy with how he ran!

Then on Sunday......he was making a run and was running way harder then he was the 1st day (not saying this to be cocky/snobby/ or whatever you want it to be, but he probably would have ran the fast time of the night) he inhaled his first and was smoking a run. But when he came out of first I kinda had to move him over and he was a smidge close to the 2nd so I put weight in my outside stirrup and lifted my leg to clear the barrel....well when he went to make his big move like he does my butt wasn't in the seat like I needed and it launched me. I was SOO embarrassed but kept it together till I was at the gate to walk out then I BAWLED. My good friend was like "BREATH Bay! It happens I have rode the horse and KNOW how powerful he is! I have done the same thing!". I was hysterical lol and I felt TERRIBLE because I let my horse down and was a mess. Then my best friends mom came running back to the barn and told me that Lance Graves came down to them and told them that I was probably beating myself up pretty bad and that I shouldn't because he would have made the same move I did and I did everything right and few other things. So after a few me and my mom went and thanked him and he sat me down and told me that I did the same thing he would have done, and he had the same thing happen to him on live ESPN broadcasting with 5 million viewers but he got drug by his horse. And he explained exactly what I did to me and he said I was a great rider with an AMAZING horse and told me I had a PHENOMINAL weekend and should be proud. Then after he talked and we left they got up and left with still 50 riders to go.....so he was watching me lol and that was a cool moment.

Well I had another event yesterday and it went very good! It was more of a "fix" things run I was making and I end up winning lol! It was deep and he just wasn't going to trust the ground on the first, started to rate then picked himself back up. But he did move off my leg heading to the 2nd which is what I wanted to work on. Then on 3rd he felt the ground wasn't that steady and just stepped out coming out. But I am very pleased with how he worked and handled himself.

Never really posted our results from the last SOHSET meet so I'll do that now.

Barrels was bad. Selena was just not in the mood I guess. I felt like she was stuck and trying to run through a vat of caramel, I couldn't get her moving at all. She made fairly pretty turns on the first and second barrels but for some odd reason ran sideways on the backside of the third. Guess we need to go back and remind her of her job.

Keyhole was good. I went into the key really, really slow because I had never done it before on her. She got really excited when I asked her to do a rollback and we *almost* went over the painted line, but we made it out! The funny thing being even though the run was slow, 40/50 people went outside the line, so we were still in the top ten

Well I had my first run yesterday since Feb. My mare has been off due to abcesses.

My bf didn't get out open run but here's out exhibition. I have to work her on squares bc she's ratey.....notice on the 3rd she faded in.

I'm glad that's out of the way now we can improve hopefully

Our first event was Kegs, which I'm not very good at with her. Avalanche knows her business but she tends to muscle her way through them and will often hit them unless you pull her off. There are 8 "mini kegs" set up in a straight line and you have to weave through them as fast as you can. We won! With a 17.064! Not the greatest time, but for ONCE it was clean! I don't have a video of this event, sadly.

Second event is Speed and Action. My favorite event ever with this mare. She's pretty much unbeatable at it. Everyone was running a mid-high 10 seconds, and we broke into 9.917 to take first place! Yippee!

Third event is Pole Bending. Another event I dread with this mare. Like I said, she likes to muscle her way through. Well, I'm relearning to sit back further in the saddle with this mare and try to stay out of her way as best as I can. She can rock a pole pattern. She turned great at the ends, but the 2nd end turn I was supposed to crop her coming out of the turn and I was a little bit behind and cropped her after passing the 2nd pole weaving back up. That pushed her a little harder and I didn't have time to react when she bolted forward more and I totally slammed us into the pole. My mistake. It hurt and I learned my lesson. (You can hear me say "ouch" in the video LoL) I was actually very happen with this pole run, even though I screwed up. She ran a 23.4 regardless and if I didn't knock that pole, we would have taken home another 1st place. The person who got first ran a 25.6.

Fourth is barrels. It was dark and you probably can't see the greatest, but it's there. We place 5th with a 20.645. First place person was 20.227 so you can see how close we were. Plus Avalanche kinda tripped at the 2nd barrel and I think if it wasn't for that flaw, we would have taken this class too. Not bad for a 14 hand high horse. She can definitely compete with the big boys...especially since this is a large barrel pattern!

Last event was down and back. I placed 3rd with a 9.18, 2nd place was only a 9.13 and the person that took first was 9.05. We were so close. I don't have a video of this event either.

    So overall...
    Kegs...1st
    Sp & Act...1st
    Poles...DQ'ed
    Barrels...5th
    D&B...3rd

BarrelRacingLvr, I'm in love with JJ. What a nice boy! Is Quincy your daughter? That little girl can ride! And I love her pony. What a sassy little booger!

1RedHorse, it's good to hear you hitting the show arena again. I'm glad your horse is recovered. She looks like she's working great for having time off.

Had another rodeo today, ground was a bit slick so just let him work on his own and didn't really push him. Currently sitting 2nd with 2 days left so hopefully my time will hold. Was very pleased with how he worked and handled the shifty slick ground.
