Get yo hand off the back of that saddle! I'm just kidding, I'm awful about it if I'm running Hickory, he stops more so on his front end.. Awesome run though!!! I can't wait for you two to REALLY get going together. Happy for you!
Haha I was running in a Brazilian saddle so there wasn't really anything to grab LOL. I've ALWAYS done that in the alleyway after a run....I don't know why just a weird habit lol. Posted via Mobile Device
I haven't been showing much lately, but yesterday Link made me pretty happy for the last show of the year. Ran his fastest time in this arena and had a really smooth run in Adult but he dragged over the 1st and 2nd just barely leaving them. Then in Open class he came back and ran 2nd in the 1D, first time he broke into the 1D in Open. :) He also had a nice exhibition pole run so next show we go to we are entering the pole class lol Posted via Mobile Device
Selena went in and just felt AWFUL today. I didn't ride her yesterday and I knew I should have but it was SO bloody cold I didn't. I got on without warmup and made an attempt to watch (I was draw 41 or 84 so I had time) and she was INSANE. She went straight up in the air, jumping sideways, bucking, kicking at other horses, crowhopping, reared, and was just stupid. I mean I know it was cool and she was fresh but come on, she is a seasoned horse and has NO excuse to act like that.
It was so bad I almost just scratched her and used Ruger to run instead because I did a time only on him and he felt AMAZING and even stretched out a little and tried to run. Took Selena to the warmup then the pattern, ran two practice runs and she felt great but good lord when we got in there she was NOT ready to run. We loped in on the right lead but then she switched to the left lead when I asked for her to run, bowed out on the backside of the first, got scotchy on the second and almost shouldered it then proceeded to bow out, ran to the third barrel and got around it but at that point I knew we weren't going to win anything.
It just sucks because she felt good in the warmup pen and that made me decide to run her even though she had felt bad before. Next time I'm going with my gut and running Ruger. I'm going to see about getting her chiro'd again just in case but I doubt it, I think she just lost her mind for that one.
Hope, do you still have Copper? How is she? What about Onyx? Where did this Mr. Cruz come from? *cough cough* Posted via Mobile Device
as some of you know Copper was laid off for quite a bit due to abcess...when she was back in work she just wasn't acting right for me. I brought her to LG clinic and he said it'd take alot of work. Well I was tired of projects after Cash...jewel and copper so I sent her to TX with Onyx to get a 2nd opinion. We just weren't clicking. She worked great for a lady there and I fell in love with Cruz so Fallon offered me a trade. Which was generous bc copper was a HARD mare to ride and I knew I wouldn't get my money out of her and it'd take awhile to sell. Copper slow works beautifully and high lopes a gorgeous pattern but when I ask for speed she fell apart with me. So Copper now has a great him in OK as a little girls horse tht her mom will compete on as well. I still get updates on her and they just ADORE her...so it worked out for everyone
Cruz isn't seasoned...hasn't quite been on the pattern for a year but man he's doing SO GOOD! The lady that raised him got in contact with me and said how happy she is that I have him...which makes me feel great. A little girl got her dream horse...and I have a horse I trust. Win/win
Onyx is being a rockstar over in TX at my good friends that have him in for training. I started him on the pattern and they're hauling him and starting to exhibition him. I wanted another opinion on him as a futurity prospect an they have ALOT of barrel races during the week he can get exposed to. He's been there for 6 weeks now and is already clocking bottom 3D/4D times in TX and against Fallon's horses. SOOOO proud of him!!!
