stirrup question

Ok so this is probably a really stupid question but I am at a loss. I just bought some new barrel racing aluminum stirrups. I got them home and went to put them on my saddle and realised one side of them was curved. Now I can't figure out which way they go on? Does the curved side go towards the front or back? Curved to the back.

I have these same stirrups, here is a picture of how I have them.

You can just barely see them but its the best picture I have.


They should sit like this (2nd picture) if you were looking at the left one while it was on the saddle.
