Too old?

My brother recently bought a 15 year old fox trotter. And He (to me) seems like he could be a nice local barrel racing pony:).. is 15 to old to train a horse for barrel racing? He is a little skinny.. well alot skinny.. so I probably wouldnt start til summer time.. which then he would be close to being 16. He is registered.. so yeah.. When is a horse to old to be trained for that? Thanks:)

As long as the horse is healthy, sound an enjoys his job..I have seen horses go as late as in their 30's still barrel racing. Its up to the individual horse

I've seen them run in their mid to late 20's-- healthy horses can do anything. :) and 15 aint all that old.. he's still got many more years ahead of him.
