What do y'all think? Corriente barrel saddle. also best saddle pad?

I'm hopfully trading my roping saddle (I paid $350 for) for this 16" saddle. Does it seem to be in pretty good shape?

Also, what kind of saddle pads do you like for barrels? I'm making a trip to Weatheford (Texas) to go to Tesky's and I'm wondering about good pads.

I personally HATE Corriente barrel saddles....they throw my body forward and my feet back. And if a horse rates hard I couldn't get back where I needed to be as I couldn't get my feet back under me. And I am not the only one who has had that problem....quite a few people I know hate them as well for that exact reason. And I for one can't stand any saddle that throws my feet back.

I love my Triple Creeks!

For saddle pads I am a huge 5 Star fan! They are one of the best IMO!

Conformation is how far the horse CAN go,
Mind is how far the horse WILL go,
Training is how far it DOES go.

I've never had a corriente saddle so I can't comment on them.

I have both an impact gel and a 5 star pad and I love them both!!

I have a friend who loves her Corriente, but I rode in it and it didn't do much for me.

Impact Gel pads are my absolute favorite.

Pssh.I didn't pick up the wrong lead
It's called a counter canter...
...A very advanced maneuver.

How much do the 5 Star and Impact Gel pads usually run price wise?

And what about protective boots? I doubt I'll be buying any yet, I don't have a horse yet to measure lol but I'd still like to know?

Both of them are pricey but worth it. If I was you I'd find something used. I know for certain the new Impact Gels wander around $200, give or take some.

For boots, I use Classic Equine Legacy, and can get them at my tack shop for around $60 a pair. I boot up all fours. Bell boots here at $25 a pair.

I was thinking about the Classic Equine brand, I really like their girths! That's probably what I'll get. I will be keeping an eye out for a used pad, it's always nice to save money lol. Our tack store here in Abilene is pathetic as far as saddle pads go. I think we have 3 decent pads at a time haha.

I'm a huge CE advocate, their BioFit pads are awesome too. I love their ProTech splint boots because they offer more protection than any other splint boot, and their Legacy boots to run in because my mare DESTROYS boots, but the black patch of material on the back has kept them lasting when she's torn through SMB boots...
