What do you do with manes?

What do you do with your horses manes when you run?

I have to braid my horses manes or else my hands get tangled in mane then I drop my reins and it just gets ugly after that lol.

Conformation is how far the horse CAN go,
Mind is how far the horse WILL go,
Training is how far it DOES go.

I put it in a pretty running braid, wanna get creative you can braid ribbon in it. Done it before.

I always had to braid my mares mane or else I ended up grabbing it when switching hands, her mane reached her shoulder. My new guys hair isn't long enough to braid yet (think he ripped some out) but its thick and will need braided when it grows back out.

I just comb and condition :P That's it. When I'm roping, I've braided the mane near the horn... cause getting mane caught in your dally isn't very much fun.

I braided Bailey's just because I could. Selena, once it grows back, will get a running braid and Ruger will as well. Probably with ribbons.

Pssh.I didn't pick up the wrong lead
It's called a counter canter...
...A very advanced maneuver.

I don't like you all who can do a running braid..I can't do a pretty running braid that will stay to save my life..I missed that skill..I will just brush and Cowboy Magic their mane most of the time..In the summer when it's like 100 everyday I'll do a funky braid..I'll band pieces about an inch or two wide then go back and tuck them over, a topsy-tail or whatever you want to call it, then braid the pieces..It keeps the whole braid neat and in place.

haha I can't braid a running braid either but I enjoy bringing my little sister along to shows because she can braid anything all kinds of ways....this was from this past weekend when she braided my mares mane and tail.....do not pick on the my mares lack of hair(main) and she is still shedding out a little (this was the day after a nasty storm and no bath after just a quick brush down).

I normally braid it the night before and take it out right after I run so it's wavy

One year of riding, people are surprised that after a three months of preparing for this, I'm winning with you.
